April 26th 65," white enamel SS dial, KWKS (key not included with this lot), gilt mvt, s#110556. Gross weight of assembled watch 48.4 dwt (75.3 g). A particularly attractive gold and enameled pendant watch dating closely with the ending of the American Civil War. This movement is from a production run listed in Waltham factory records as having been finished between February and April of 1865. This dating, along with the cuvette inscription, places the birth of this watch among the ending events of the Civil War; as General Lee surrendered on April 9th marking the effective end of the conflict, as Confederate President Jefferson Davis was captured on May 10th, and as General Stand Watie was the final Confederate general to surrender on June 23rd.
